It wasn’t until that night that Scarlett was brought back to her room after countless amounts of blood work, CT scans, and everything in between. Scarlett felt as if she were paralysed with exhaustion. Although as much as she wanted to sleep, waiting for the next day to come for the doctors to tell her if her brain was okay, she slowly leaned over and grabbed the phone off the silver metal stand that her large water bottle also sat on. Scarlett shivered through the thin white hospital blanket due to the freezing walls that surrounded her, but still, she opened the phone and did her best to find the contact app as fast as she could. Scarlett’s expression almost immediately lit up her dark hospital room when she opened the contacts app and found a contact for not only Jasper, but also for Melody and Violet. Without thinking, Scarlett opened Jasper’s contact and pressed the phone icon to call him.

“Red.”

“How the hell did you manage to get me, Violet, Melody, and yourself a phone without getting caught? The school doesn’t allow anyone to have phones.” Scarlett paused before coming to a realisation that he had bought four phones in one day. “Oh my god, this must have cost you a fortune.”

“They ran tests and said if nothing is critical they’ll start treating me after I get out of surgery.” Scarlet said with ease, although after a long pause she almost thought Jasper had hung up on her. “Jasper?”

“You’re getting surgery?” Jasper spoke over the phone with concern and anger lingering in his tone.

Scarlett sighed and softly laughed before replying to Jasper. “It isn’t a big deal.” She paused. “Okay, maybe it’s kind of a big deal. They said I have nerve damage in my arm and they are going to try and reverse it as much as they can and they have to reset my arm too.”

“Did the doctors tell you when they think you’ll be back here?”

“Not yet. Hopefully it will be in less than a week though. I couldn’t imagine a reason for them to keep me that long just for supervision. I mean I’m literally fine, they are worrying about things that aren’t even going to happen.”

Jasper paused for a long moment before replying, unsure if Scarlett truly thought she was fine. “Scarlett, you aren’t fine, you got the shit kicked out of you. I’m glad the doctors are
